Edible sprinkles should be 100% natural

When you are buying cake sprinkles you should always look for cake decorations which are made of 100% natural ingredients. Any kind of artificial colour or flavour can cause serious health issues and since most of the time we see children grabbing the sprinkles, you need to be extra cautious while buying such decorations.

Cake sprinkles add life to the cakes and we all love sparkling glitter sands, sugar strands, pearls, toppers, sprinkle stars and sugar crunches in vibrant colours. No matter what your age is, these are simply irresistible. Leave out the children, even the most senior member of the family cannot resist the temptation of swiftly picking the stars or crunches in secret.

This is the reason you should triple check before picking a pack of sprinkles from the supermarket or adding to your cart. For the latter you need to be more careful and if the website does not claim to sell sprinkles without artificial colours or flavours, you should stay away from that seller.

Besides many sprinkle makers use ingredients that are not up to the mark in terms of food grade and very commonly they use harmful hydrogenated fats.

These are unnatural fats which are absolutely detrimental for health. Hydrogenation means forcibly adding hydrogen into polyunsaturated oil so that the oil can solidify at room temperatures. These solidified fats are used as cheaper substitutes of butter in various confectionery products and edible cake decorations.

Unlike the naturally hardened saturated fats these hydrogenated fats are difficult to metabolise. These are not excreted in the normal process and remain stuck in the blood circulations, causing cardiovascular diseases and sometimes cancer.

It is true that unless you are a medical professional or a nutritionist, you may not know all these and many sprinkle suppliers take advantage of this general lack of awareness.
